About Project
Soluções para a Indústria de Futuro
The umbrella project “programa mobilizador PRODUTECH SIF – Soluções para a Indústria do Futuro” (Solutions for the Industry of the Future) embodies a comprehensive response towards the development and implementation of new production systems, embedding advanced production technologies, that will equip the manufacturing industry to meet the challenges and opportunities of the 4th industrial revolution. It incorporates a strategic, coherent and integrative set of R&D activities in key domains that foresees the development of new production technologies for multi-sectorial application, and with impacts in terms of the reinforcement of the competitiveness and sustainability of the industry at international level, encompassing: - Networked production systems - Innovative technologies for new cyber-physical production systems - Development, management and improvement of cyber-physical production systems - Key enabling production technologies, automation and advance robotic systems - Integral sustainability and efficiency of production systems - Energy technologies - Advanced tools for the development of products and services The umbrella PRODUTECH SIF incorporates a research and innovation agenda, for production technologies, cyber-physical systems and industry transformation. It embodies the combined efforts from actors of the industrial fabric and research and innovation system, gathering a critical mass for the effective development and deployment of advanced knowledge and technologies, which will be transferred and assimilated by industrial companies, and deployed in innovative products and services (production technologies), embedding advanced solutions. As such, it foresees the technology creation, acceleration, transfer and demonstration of developed solutions in reference companies from user sectors, towards its effective diffusion, valorisation and adoption by industry. The PRODUTECH SIF umbrella stems from the confluence of R&D +I(nnovation) +D(emonstration and diffusion) axes of the Production Technologies Cluster multi-annual programme and gather a consistent set of activities towards the above mentioned goal.

António Paulo Moreira
António Paulo Gomes Mendes Moreira has a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering - FEUP (1986), Electronic Instrumentation option, a Master's degree in Electrotechnical and Computer Engineering - Systems Specialisation at FEUP (1991), a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering (1998) and an Aggregation - FEUP (2017). He is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. He is also a Researcher and Coordinator of CRIIS - Centre for Industrial Robotics and Intelligent Systems and Head of the iiLab – Industry and Innovation Laboratory at INESC TEC. He carries out research essentially in Robotics, Automation and Control, with an emphasis on its application in industrial projects and technology transfer. He has participated or is still participating in 25 scientific projects, being the coordinator or researcher responsible for 7 of them. The work carried out on these projects has generated 40 projects with companies or development and technology transfer contracts, and he is the lead researcher on 18 of these projects. He also participated in the development of 18 prototypes and 2 patents, of which he is co-owner. He has contributed to the creation of two spin-off companies. Associated Centres
Robotics in Industry and Intelligent Systems
At the Centre for Robotics and Intelligent Systems, we develop innovative solutions to leverage robotics in the industrial, agricultural, and forestry contexts, driving the digital transformation of the industry. We take a practical approach - from design to deployment - to test the navigation and localisation of mobile robots, explore advances in 2D/3D industrial vision and advanced detection, while also focusing on industrial and collaborative robotics, as well as human-robot interfaces. Our TRIBE LAB is fertile ground for innovative ideas about the agriculture of the future; we develop prototypes and promote excellence in agricultural robotics and IoT technology: with prototypes, advanced sensors (LiDAR, AI cameras), and rapid prototyping tools, we accelerate the development of solutions for the agroforestry sector. We are also present at the iiLab, where we combine applied research, technological demonstration, and controlled environment testing, promoting the integration of emerging technologies into industry. From intelligent robotic cells and cyber-physical systems to data analysis and AI, it is an innovation space where companies can experiment with and validate solutions for the factory of the future. With a multidisciplinary team, and following European agendas, our research work combines fundamental science and application, impacting the design of solutions for Industry 4.0, fostering competitiveness and the digital transformation of the sector.

Enterprise Systems Engineering
The research carried out at the Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE) has a direct impact on industrial transformation, developing sustainable, resilient, and human-centred solutions to address the challenges of the digital and green transitions. Through a co-creation and development approach with scientific and industrial partners, CESE contributes to improve organisational capabilities and driving systemic innovation in complex industrial contexts. As a multidisciplinary research centre, CESE bridges science and practice in the field of Systems Engineering, focusing on value creation within industrial ecosystems. This mission is structured around five research lines that define CESE scientific and technological expertise: Manufacturing Systems Design and Management, Supply Chain and Collaborative Networks Management, Architectures and Industrial Information Systems, Technology Management in Industry, Transportation and Logistics.
