TTO

Our Technology Transfer Office (TTO) aims to maximise the societal impact of the research and development (R&D) results generated by our institution. We have a consolidated position as a reference player in intellectual property (IP) strategy and knowledge transfer at the European level, actively reinforcing INESC TEC’s reputation and fostering partnerships, especially at the TTO Circle - the European Commission’s prestigious network composed of the major 35 European RTOs.

Since 2017, we have consistently ranked in the top 10 Portuguese entities in the Patent Index published by the European Patent Office, which reflects our relevance in the national innovation ecosystem.

Our TTO manages one of INESC TEC’s most valuable assets: IP.

We value knowledge and technology through different key initiatives. Our internal scouting process helps identifying the impactful results produced by INESC TEC. We are responsible for defining IP protection and exploitation strategies and managing open-source software to maximise the potential of our IP and promote collaboration. Additionally, the TTO conducts customer discovery and generates business intelligence to guide INESC TEC strategic decisions.
