In June the city of Porto will host the first "Summer School on Recent Advances in Optics and Photonics". This Summer School will take place between 27-29 June at the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto (Department of Physics and Astronomy) and is organised by the Portuguese Society for Research and Development in Optics and Photonics, in collaboration with INESC TEC, an Associate Laboratory coordinated by INESC Porto, and the IT-Aveiro.

The "Summer School on Recent Advances in Optics and Photonics" aims to improve the knowledge of students and young researchers in the fields of Optics and Photonics.

The intention is to inform participants on some of the recent developments in research and development in these areas.

The registration cost is 100 € for those who register until 15 June and € 150 for those who register after that date. For students the price is 50 € if they register until 15 June, and 75 € after that date.

As part of the Summer School, INESC TEC is also organising the 10th edition of the Symposium on Enabling Optical Networks and Sensors (SEONS), which takes place on June 27. This technical meeting, also supported by IT-Aveiro, aims to promote exchange of ideas between academics and industry professionals who work in Photonics.

Summer School participants will be automatically registered in SEONS. In order to submit a paper, it is necessary to submit an abstract online until 15 June.
