I am a Coordinator Professor at the Polytechnic of Porto and a Researcher at INESC TEC, where I lead the Multimedia Communications Technology Area. I obtained my PhD from University of Porto in the area of multimedia content management. I have been responsible for the participation of INESC TEC in several national and European projects, involving universities and media industries. Author of several publications, I am also an active reviewer for journals and conferences and engaged in the organization of workshops and program committees in the area of Multimedia. Recently I co-chaired the Immersive Media Experiences workshop series (2013-2015) at ACM MM. Additionally I am also often engaged in the evaluation of European and Portuguese research proposals and projects. My main research activities and interests are in the field of networked audiovisual systems, including digital television and new services, content management, personalization and recomendation, new media formats and immersive and interactive media.

João Claro is Chairman and CEO of INESC TEC, and Professor of Industrial Engineering and Management at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). He is also Director of the PhD in Engineering and Public Policy at FEUP, and President of the Academic Council and Head of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Porto Business School (PBS). His area of focus is Technology Management and Policy.

He currently serves as Scientific Director of the UT Austin Portugal Program. In recent years, he has worked closely with Carnegie Mellon University, namely as the National Director of the Carnegie Mellon Portugal Program, and with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, namely as a visiting scholar.

He was a member of the Board of the European Association of Research and Technology Organisations (EARTO) between 2020 and 2023.

João Claro holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from FEUP (2008), an MSc in Quantitative Methods in Management from PBS (2002), and an undergraduate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from FEUP (1993). Prior to returning to the University, he was a software engineer and information systems project manager at Edinfor (1994-1998).

I was born in Portugal in 1964. I graduated in mathematics from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto and earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the same institution. My current position is auxiliary professor at the Computer Science department of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto. I am also affiliated with the Center for Research in Advanced Computing Systems (CRACS), an R&D unit of INESCTEC Research Laboratory, where I am an effective member.My main research interests are technology enhanced learning, web adaptability, and semantic web.

I am an associate professor at the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto and the coordinator of LIAAD , the Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support Lab of UP. LIAAD is a unit of INESC TEC (Laboratório Associado) since 2007. I am a PhD in Computer Science by U. Porto, MSc. on Foundations of Advanced Information Technology by the Imperial Collegeand BSc. in Applied Maths and Computer Science, currently Computer Science (U. Porto). My research interests are Data Mining and Machine Learning, in particular association rules, web and text intelligence and data mining for decision support. My past research also includes Inductive Logic Programming and Collaborative Data Mining. I lecture courses related to programming, information processing, data mining, and other areas of computing. While at the Faculty of Economics, where I stayed from 1996 to 2009, I launched, with other colleagues, the MSc. on Data Analysis and Decisison Support Systems, which I coordinated from 2000 to April 2008. I lead research projects on data mining and web intelligence. I was the director of the Masters in Computer Science at DCC-FCUP from June 2010 to August 2013. I co-chaired international conferences (ECML/PKD 2015, Discovery Science 2009, ECML/PKDD 05 and EPIA 01), workshops and seminars in data mining and artificial intelligence. I was Vice-President of APPIA the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence.

Sérgio Nunes is an Associate Professor at the Department of Informatics Engineering at FEUP, University of Porto, and a Senior Researcher at INESC TEC. He holds a PhD in Information Retrieval (2010) focused on using temporal features for relevance estimation, and a MSc in Information Management (2004).

His main research interests are in information retrieval and web information systems. He teaches databases, web technologies and information retrieval in different programs, namely the Informatics Engineering Doctoral Program, the Informatics Engineering Bachelor and Masters, and the Multimedia Masters.

Was the Director of the U.Porto Media Innovation Labs (MIL), an Excellence Center of the University of Porto, with the mission of developing the university's capacity in the field of Media in teaching, research and innovation activities by promoting collaborations between existing university structures and articulation with external partners.
