Bruno Assunção Oliveira

Biomedical and data scientist with a multidisciplinary foundation in biochemistry, data science, and machine learning. I hold a bachelor’s and postgraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Minho, where I developed a solid foundation in laboratory and research techniques.
Professionally, I have experience in both research and applied roles. After working in technical laboratory positions, I transitioned to a role at BlueClinical (a CRO) as a laboratory technician, focusing on sample processing, quality control, and lab organization.
In 2021, I embarked on a Master’s in Data Science at the University of Porto (FCUP), completing my thesis in 2024. My line of research at INESC-TEC specializes in multimodal deep learning for healthcare, focusing on explainable AI (XAI) to interpret model behaviours in ECG and PCG diagnostics. Right now I am fine-tuning the models with data from Hospital de Gaia to apply it in a telemedicine application. Driven by the potential of data-driven insights, I am motivated to leverage my expertise to advance patient outcomes and healthcare quality.
