Visiting Researchers
We create opportunities for foreign researchers to carry out research activities with us.
We promote an international and multicultural environment, encourage scientific mobility, and welcome researchers from different parts of the world. Whether through our INESC TEC International Visiting Researcher Programme (IIVRP), international mobility programmes such as ERASMUS+, or spontaneous applications and requests, we offer visiting researchers the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary research setting, alongside experienced professionals in areas of mutual interest, while also expanding their professional network.
INESC TEC International Visiting Researcher Programme
Application FormWe will be accepting applications until June 13 (23:59 UTC+1), 2025. We have more than 80 research topics available.
The INESC TEC International Visiting Researcher Programme is aimed at senior researchers, including master’s and PhD students, affiliated with universities or other organisations outside of Portugal, and interested in spending up to three months with our seasoned researchers working on topics of mutual interest. Look at our open calls and past editions and find out how this initiative can help build long-standing collaborations through short-term research mobility.
Last Editions
We launched the International Visiting Researcher Programme in 2022 and, since then, have welcomed over 40 visiting researchers from various countries, including Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Finland, Ireland, and the USA.
Although short in duration, this mobility programme has yielded tangible results, such as joint scientific publications and memoranda of understanding, making a valuable contribution to boosting or consolidating long-term institutional collaborations and promoting knowledge sharing in support of scientific and technological advancement.

In addition to the INESC TEC International Visiting Researcher Programme, INESC TEC also hosts visiting researchers through scientific mobility programmes promoted by international initiatives and networks (e.g. ERASMUS+, ERCIM Alan Bensoussan Fellowship Programme, etc.) or by the researchers' own home institutions.
